Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
"Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy."

THE Secret
From "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne
Page 22:
"MICHAEL BERNARD BECKWITH
Oftentimes when people begin to understand the Great Secret, they become frightened of all the negative thoughts that they have. They need to be aware that it has been scientifically proven that an affirmative thought is hundreds of times more powerful than a negative thought. That eliminates a degree of worry right there."
Page 32:
"MARCI SHIMOFF
Everything we think and feel is creating our future. If you're worried or in fear, then you're bringing more of that into your life throughout the day. "
Page 67:
"If you are rushing or hurrying, know that those thoughts and actions are based in fear (fear of being late) and you are "fixing up" bad things ahead for you. As you continue to rush, you will attract one bad thing after another into your path. In addition t that, the law of attraction is "fixing up" more future circumstances that will cause you to rush and hurry. You must stop and move yourself off that frequency. Take a few moments and shift yourself, if you don't want to summon bad things to you."

Intention
"There are many definitions of intention. This is mine: an intention is a declaration of anything positive you want to do or invite into your life. It's high vibration energy. In contrast, research shows our thoughts, left to their own whimsy, will roll downhill toward worry and fear. It's called negativity bias. Here's the good news. Intention is a gorgeous flavor of thought that is potent positive energy. More good news - there's an unlimited supply of this energy, and we have access to it 24/7."

Queda prohibido (It's forbidden)
QUEDA PROHIBIDO de Pablo Neruda
"Queda prohibido llorar sin aprender,
levantarte un día sin saber que hacer,
tener miedo a tus recuerdos.
Queda prohibido no sonreír a los problemas,
no luchar por lo que quieres,
abandonarlo todo por miedo,
no convertir en realidad tus sueños.
Queda prohibido no demostrar tu amor,
Queda prohibido dejar a tus amigos,
Queda prohibido no crear tu historia,
Queda prohibido no buscar tu felicidad,

Love is the answer
"A way out of the “I’m scared” thought pattern is offered in A Course in Miracles. I have a special love for this weighty tome that tells us there are only two emotions we can experience: love and fear. Anything that is love cannot be fear, and anything that is fear cannot be love. If we can find our way to stay in a space of love, then fear is an impossibility." Dr Wayne W. Dyer

Never be daunted
Never be daunted by Jaymay (Jamie Seerman)
what are you so afraid of?
why are you feeling scared?
what's the worst that's gonna happen?
standing in the moonlight
I can tell you feel doomed
though nothing is wrong, no nothing
you say maybe a crane will fall from the sky
maybe a dove will dive
and I before your eyes
it's too early to say
it's too early to say goodnight (goodnight)
it's too early to read
it's too early to read by the firelight
what are you so afraid of?
why are you feeling scared?
what's the worst that's gonna happen?
standing in the meadow
with sunlight in your eye
and a sense of so much sorrow
you say maybe a plane will fall from the sky
maybe your lover will lie
and I before your eyes

Fatal Attraction
...I knew it, I knew it!
Since I chose "fearlessly" as the theme for 2012 I have been bricking it. It must be one of those "laws of atraction". A fatal one, it seems.
First I found a little fluff in my bed and when to pick it up, it just "unballed" and it turn out to be a spider! Ok, you've guessed, spiders is in my list of fearful things. It's not as much fear as disgust, but still, it made it on my list. I felt so bad about killing it, but I just couldn't control myself.
Lucky for the second spider that I found this year (smaller and not in my bed), I managed to calmly take it by the treat of its own web & safely diposit it in my balcony. Slightly proud that I manage to keep my nerves under control & spare the poor creature's life. I am hoping this whole being kind to the universe and the universe will be kind to you starts kicking in soon...
Joking aside, despite of staring the year full of hopes and positivity, since choosing this blog's theme I have been engulfed (for lack of a better word) in this dark, hopeless feeling and I find myself constantly battling against it to keep my head afloat.
Help!
I'm trying to find the way of shaking this sinking feeling. Haven't figure out whether I have to confront it or just ignore it.
How do you battle fear?
In preparation (if it turns out that fighting is required), here is an initial list of some of my fears that I believe need addressing one way or another:
- spiders
- worries
- being alone
- being lost
- meeting new people
- trusting people
- lack of purpose
- wasting time
- feeling I'm a fraud
- what people might think
- feeling unprepared
-asking for things (in shops, directions...)
-confrontation
-being lazy
-...
I reserve the right to add more to it as they come to my mind.

Fear is the key
When I was trying to think of a theme for this year's blog, I couldn't get out of my head Jack L's song, "Fear is the key".
My only resolution this year is to live without fear. This is a collection of fearless coincidences. Enjoy!
Also check my blog Susana's life.
